Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory is considered as one of the centers of research thinking of the Central Asian region. Fundamental and applied researches are carried out here to upgrade professional level of a specialist.
The main goal of the research activities in the Conservatory is an effective use of the staff potential in solving acute issues of the development of science and education in Kazakhstan and worldwide. The results of this academic activity are reflected in numerous publications, such as monographs, manuals, study books, collections of articles and abstracts, notations editions, and speeches and reports at national and international scientific conferences.
An Academic Student Society (ASS) was formed. Its members are actively involved in reports to the media, conferences, concerts and contests where they regularly win prizes. ASS is a host organization for the annual national competition of student research papers in the field of Musical Art.
The Conservatory is an institution where the students obtain the skills of research activity for the first time. Students scientific experiments are probed at international conferences, in scientific collections, and thesis projects. Interest and love for science fostered in the Conservatory become a start of fruitful research work for many students in their further career. One of the logical results of their research work is a public defense of their dissertations.
The Conservatory has a successfully functioning post-graduate study program. Only for the last three years, post-graduate students successfully defended nine dissertations in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan. In addition to post-graduate studies in the form of writing dissertations, students can continue their professional education in-house as assistant-interns, research interns, and researchers.
Concert and Performance Activities
Specific profile of the music higher school requires certain priorities in education. The highest priorities are concert and performance activities, which have received worldwide recognition in the last decade.
Rich and intensive concert life of the Conservatory varies in genres, scale, and concert sites. Definitely, ASS, as the center of the country s music life, has the task to promote academic and folk music during its concert activities. It also facilitates selection and artistic growth of young performers. It raises important issues of the development of performance culture, music traditions, and preservation of the spiritual heritage of the society.
Five large student music teams function within the Kazakh National Conservatory. They perform and educate in the country and abroad, being a kind of a business card for the alma mater and the country as a whole.
According to the statistics, around 50 solo, 60 collective and departmental, 70 joint, and 20 orchestra performing concerts are conducted by the professors and students annually in the Conservatory.
