Competition conditions:
1. The IV International Piano Competition will take place in Almaty for the period of December 1 - 8, 2008.
2. The participants of age between 18 to 32 inclusive are welcome to take part in the competition. The age of participants will be defined December 1, 2008.
3. The competition will consist of three rounds including two solo recitals, chamber music and, a final performance with orchestral accompaniment. All rounds will be open to the public.
4. The order of participants appearance shall be determined by drawing lots, and will remain in effect till the end of the final round.
5. Winners of the competition are required to perform in the closing concert of the Competition without any reimbursement.
6. Participants shall not receive reimbursement for appearances at the Competition, and any use of recordings or video broadcasts of appearances shall not be reimbursed.
7. The organizers of the Competition shall retain the rights to all audio and video recordings of the Competition proceedings, as well as the right to broadcast them.
8. The participant s arrival and the drawing lots will be held at 18:00, November 30, 2008.
9. The opening of the Competition will be held at 10:00, December 1, 2008.
10. The closing concert and awarding ceremony will take place at 16:00, December 8, 2008 in Big Hall of Kurmangazy Kazakh National
Conservatory.
The application procedure:
1. Application forms shall be presented before October 1, 2008 (the date to be defined by the postage stamp).
2. Confirmation on admission of candidates shall be sent by Organizing Committee no later than October 20, 2008.

The application package should include:
1. Photocopy of the applicant s passport or another ID that confirms the applicant s date of birth;
2. Curriculum Vitae, press reports on performing activity (if any);
3. Certificate of musical education (copy);
4. Photocopies of diplomas and awards from other competitions;
5. Two color photographs (size 6x9 cm). The applicant s first and last name should be written on the back of the photographs;
6. A Program of performance at the Competition based on chronological principle with the indication of duration of each piece. Financial terms:
1. Participants are obliged to arrive Almaty according to the dates indicated by Organizing Committee in the official invitation.
2. The Application fee is :
100 Euro - for foreign citizens
USD100 - for residents of NIS countries
USD50 for residents of Kazakhstan
The application fee is nonrefundable.
3. The accommodation for participants shall be arranged by Organizing Committee.
4. The trip, accommodation and meals shall be covered by participants.
5. The Organizing Committee shall cover accommodation and meals of participants, who are admitted to the third round. Participants, not admitted to the second and the third rounds, as well as accompanying persons may stay in Almaty till the end of the competition at their own expense.
6. The Conservatory will offer free practicing facilities to all participants. The Competition prizes:
The following prizes have been established by the Organizing Committee: First prize - USD20.000,00 Second prize - USD10.000,00 Third prize - USD5.000,00 Diploma - USD1.000,00 Diploma - USD1.000,00 Diploma - USD1.000,00
1. The Jury shall be formed of famous professors, performers, art-historians, musical critics and art-managers from Kazakhstan, USA, Europe, Asia, and Russia.
2. The Jury has the right to divide the prizes or not award any of them.
3. The decisions of the Jury are not subject to any review.
4. The prize money for the Competition laureates shall be paid in national currency. The Competition Program
First round: (not more than 30 minutes)
1. Polyphony piece by the modern composer of the XX century.
2. Three Etudes by F.Chopin of the applicant s choice:
op.10 (excluding no. 3,6,9), op. 25 (excluding no. 1,2,7,9)
3. Virtuoso piece.
Second round will consist of two performances: (not more than 60 minutes)
I - Solo recital (performance duration - 40 minutes)
1. One of the sonatas by J.Haydn.
2. Cyclic romantic virtuozo composition.
II Piano chamber music (performance duration- 20 minutes)
One of the following works in any category ( A, B, C) of the applicant s
choice.
